When is Garbage Pickup? Do I need a Garbage can?
Garbage?
GARBAGE PICKUP IS ON MONDAY AND THURSDAY MORNINGS. IF IT IS A FEDERAL HOLIDAY THE PICKUP WILL BE DELAYED ONE DAY. RECYCLABLES ARE PICKED UP ON THURSDAY.
If it is windy please wait until the morning of recyclables pickup to put them out. Consider using a brick or something heavy to keep papers from blowing all over the place. When there is a lot of trash around Westgate we have to hire someone to remove it. You can keep the costs down by helping us out and picking up your recyclables if they blow around.
Large Pickups are usually on Thursday. If it is large enough to require two men to load it into the truck you will need to call Waste Management to schedule a large pickup. Carpet can be thrown out but it needs to be no longer than 4 foot strips and rolled up and preferably taped up.
You are not required at this point to have a garbage can but it is helpful on Windy Days to keep trash from blowing all over the neighborhood.
You may not know this but Westgate has rules about leaving garbage and recycling bins outside of your unit. This also applies to wood, cardboard, children's toys and so on. It can sometimes be hard to understand our rules, but there are valid reasons for all of these rules. Please put your belongs away. Thank you.

Who is responsible for my garage light?
The homeowner is responsible for the upkeep of the garage lights. If it is not working it is a good idea to try cleaning the light sensor first. Sensors can be replaced and so can the light fixture. Please try and match the light fixture with a model that is a the same or something close to the original one. You are responsible for changing the bulb. Long life bulbs are recommended. You can be fined if your garage light is not working. Be sure to keep checking your garage light. Inspections take place twice a year.
CAN I HAVE A PET?
Yes you can have a pet. We love pets at Westgate. Please be a responsible pet owner. Please keep your pets on a leash(per Gurnee Village Ordinance). Pickup pet waste immediately, even if it is in your yard area, and dispose of it as soon as possible. Please respect your neighbors and be a good pet owner. If serious problems arise contact the Gurnee Police Department at 847-599-7000.

Noise issues
Lately we have had more noise complaints. We lived in shared units so it is important to keep the noise levels at reasonably levels. If you are having a large gathering that will go into the evening it might be wise to inform your shared wall neighbors.
Other noise complaints have been dogs barking and loud cars. Please be considerate of your neighbors. If you are having problems try to talk it out with your neighbor and if that doesn't work you can contact the Village of Gurnee Police Dept. The non emergency number is 847-599-7000.
